SIGA project introduction

SIGA (Seniors in Green Action) is a project aimed at developing an educational program for the elderly on the use of medicinal wild plants with an emphasis on preserving the habitat of wild plants for the purpose of environmental protection and natural balance.

Through the developed program, we will educate the elderly on how to properly collect wild plants and how to use these plants to make various herbal preparations for health preservation and disease prevention. By achieving this goal, we will enable the elderly to actively participate in society while spending quality time in nature, learning and mastering new skills, and at the same time educate them about a topic they have not had the opportunity to learn about until now, which is environmental awareness in the context of caring for their own health.

The accompanying result will be the achievement of green business in partner organizations. The lead partner is Narodno učilište Rijeka and partner organisations are Ljudska Univerza Ormož, Dorea Educational Institute, Hyla Studio Naturalistico and Education in Progress from Palma.

The key results that will be achieved through the implementation of the SIGA project are:

  1. developed Home Herbal Pharmacy program, developed mini-curriculum on sustainability and environmental protection,
  2. developed manual with recipes for preparations from medicinal wild plants,
  3. developed digital platform with e-learning materials that we will create in cooperation with our project partners.

In order to start promotion of the SIGA project we created a leaflet which has basic information about project partners,. Click here to download the leaflet.
