On November 30, 2023, the Italian partner Studio Naturalistico Hyla organized and hosted the first meeting of the Siga Project – Senior in Green Action, welcoming the other 4 partners of the project.
The partnership meeting was held in Umbria, in central Italy, the region where the Hyla Naturalistic Studio is based and precisely in Valnerina, the place of origin of one of the two employees of the Studio, and a place of great interest from a naturalistic and plant biodiversity point of view. As a first presentation meeting and start of the project, all the partners had the opportunity to present their companies from Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Lithuania, and reference realities and then share the various phases of the project, the duration of each phase and the corresponding objectives to be achieved.
Since the main purpose is to unite and spread the knowledge of spontaneous medicinal plants to people over the age of 54, we have shared how to achieve this goal and what strategies to follow, such as a pilot program on medicinal plants with a course to be carried out in each of the countries, a mini-curriculum with guidelines on environmental sustainability and a manual of recipes and remedies also collected during the pilot course to have a practical handbook of recipes to be re-proposed.
This first meeting and the place of reception were an opportunity to experiment together and in a very pragmatic way how the transfer of knowledge about spontaneous medicinal and spontaneous plants can take place. It was therefore an opportunity to take a short walk together, where the guest partners guided the others to get to know the host place also and above all through its plants, some of the most representative plants. Then presenting some of their properties and uses, thus entering a little into the atmosphere of the project. The red thread that connected the activities of the first meeting ended with a lunch together, also based on the plants encountered during the walk to experience minimally together what it can mean to work, study and get to know these plants.
