IO1 – HOME HERBAL PHARMACY CURRICULUM

The first project output was preparation of a curriculum on how to prepare an herbal pharmacy at home. All project partners cooperated in developing a Home Herbal Pharmacy program that is adapted to each partner country’s context and includes theoretical classes, field classes (outings in nature, organized education, and demonstration of proper collection of wild medicinal plants while taking care of plant habitats and encouraging ecological awareness) as well practical classes (making preparations from previously collected medicinal wild plants).

Through the theoretical classes the participants will apply basic phytotherapy knowledge into their everyday life, gain more insight into anatomy, systemisation, effect and use of regional medicinal plants. Through practical classes they will learn more about drying and storing herbs and how to produce herbal remedies. The participants will also be prepared for pruning, planting and plant propagation. During field trips they will also be encouraged to look after the environment, preserving natural plant habitats by acquiring knowledge related to proper ways to harvest and cultivate plants for personal needs.

As part of Siga project we successfully carried out an educational program for the elderly, focusing on the use of medicinal plants while emphasizing the importance of preserving the natural habitats of these plants. The participants gained new knowledge and skills related to plant-based healing, while also raising awareness about environmental protection and sustainability. They were actively engaged with society, while spending quality time in nature. Participants acquired valuable knowledge about medicinal plants, while also developing a sense of responsibility for preserving the natural world.
